Karibu Kabrazen
OUR WHAT
KaBrazen mythologises our heroes so that every child can imagine themselves as active agents in the world: as Mekatilili wa Menza, as Queen Njinga, as the forever secret spy of the Nandi, as every woman who has come before them. Through the lives of these women, young children are equipped with a language, history and framework for engaging with their identities, opening up conversations about a their past, present and future.
OUR WHY
It is simple: How can you say women can’t save a park when you know Zarina Patel? That Africans can’t change the world when you know Wangari Maathai? Having ethical and entertaining stories of powerful women isn’t just a desire, but a necessity.
And…they are delightful. Our little ones deserve delight.
THE KABRAZEN CONSORTIUM
The KaBrazen Consortium was formed in 2022 and comprises of Za Kikwetu Productions Limited, an audio-visual production house in Nairobi, The LAM Sisterhood, which originated and developed the KaBrazen podcast, and Africa Podfest, a leading podcasting company focused on marketing and distribution of African podcasts.
This was our first collaboration exploring a multilingual African children's podcast in English and Kiswahili. It supported by the Ignite Culture grant of the ACP-EU administered by HEVA Fund.

GRANTS AND INVESTMENTS
The KaBrazen Consortium was selected as part of Cohort1 of the Ignite Culture grant for African creative businesses. Our work on this project expands the reach and impact of the KaBrazen Podcast as an important keeper of African women’s stories.
This unique partnership will expand the English podcast into Kiswahili and expand cultural heritage through podcasting.
